Chapter 2: The Internet & World Wide Web

One of the major reasons business, home, and other users purchase computers is for the Internet access. The Internet is a widely used research tool, providing society with access to global information and instant communication. The Internet, also called the Net, is a worldwide collection of networks that links millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals.

Read post and answer discussion question (Periods 1-3).

Although Internet Explorer may be the most widely used Web browser, it is not the only Web browser in use. Evaluate and compare reviews of other Web browsers such as Google Chrome, Safari, or FireFox with Internet Explorer. Discuss the major differences between the browsers your researched and Internet Explorer. Examples of differences might include the number and types of features, how they display Web pages, and the speed at which they perform. Include in your discussion which browser you would recommend and the reasons for your recommendation.

Virtually everyone who works with computers has experienced problems with computer software. Problems can range from not being able to install the software on your computer to installed software producing unanticipated results. Depending on the situation and time these problems occur, it can result in a great amount of user stress. Some people compare these types of problems to a craftsman's tools malfunctioning in the middle of the project. On the other hand, many people feel reactions to computer software problems tend to be more extreme than reactions to problems with other tools they use. Evaluate situations in which you have seen people react to computer software problems. Discuss how these users can reduce their frustration when dealing with such problems.
