Chapter 1: Introduction to Computers

Read post, answer question, and respond to one of your classmate's postings. (Periods 1-3)

Virtually everyone who works with computers has experienced problems with computer software. Problems can range from not being able to install the software on your computer to installed software producing unanticipated results. Depending on the situation and time these problems occur, it can result in a great amount of user stress. Some people compare these types of problems to a craftsman's tools malfunctioning in the middle of the project. On the other hand, many people feel reactions to computer software problems tend to be more extreme than reactions to problems with other tools they use. Evaluate situations in which you have seen people react to computer software problems. Discuss how these users can reduce their frustration when dealing with such problems.

  10. My sister was trying to download a video and it brought in all of these viruses. My dad is a computer programmer and he was able to get rid of the viruses. I've also had times when photos aren't pulling up though. The only person out of my family who usually gets angry with the computer is me. :/
When this happens I have to walk away for a bit and then ask my dad for help.

  13. Last week I was trying to transfer mp3 files from a flash drive onto my dad's laptop, and from there onto itunes. The mp3s transferred fine, but when I went to open them in itunes it said the files were either invalid or too big. So I had to start over and rename them so they'd be smaller.

@ Branford try and see what your bandwidth is. You might have all of it used up so it could be really slow on your Xbox.

  20. Dealing w/ software problems mat be frustrating because you are not pateint. If you do not know how to fix the problem take it to a computer specailist or you could be one by just going to the public libary and search on google how to fix that can of problem and then once you find it print it than go bach to wherever your pc is and try to fix it yourself. You save lots of money if you fix it your self, like once my laptop had a virus and i got all frustrated because the guy wanted close to $100 to take the virus out, but i went online and downloaded a virus protection program and it took the virus out and up till now i haven't had one single virus yet.

At my dad's house, our internet is messed up and so sometimes it stops working. It's very annoying but usually it starts working again soon after. The other problem is that our phone is messed up because of the internet. For a while our phone number got switched with some other lady's number.

  32. My friend Sam, has a lot of problems with computers, hes not technically advanced or computer smart. When the little "please wait" wheel is up, Sam becomes uncontrollably mad. The best thing that he can to help his anger is to just relax and stay calm. I like to use a stress ball, and just to squeeze it as hard as i possibly can.

  41. I personally have dealt with my share of computer complications. At times it seemed like every other month we had some virus , & had to pay more money to get protection. This can be very frustrating , ecspcially when the computer is a key source in the completion of your homework . The key in not being so stressed is PATIENCE. With time any problem can be fixed.

  47. Computers can be really frustrating but I suggest just walking away from the computer and coming back when you are more calm. My sister was having trouble opening an application. Her macbook was being slow, instead of getting frustrated she just set it down and came back later. By then iphoto was working fine and her annoyance was gone.
